TIME & MOTION ANALYSIS
AIRPORT SERVICES
OBJECTIVE SUMMARY
Determine processing time of airline customer during departure and arrival. The study will assess timing of the processes handled CMI Passenger Service/Terminal Operation, TSA, US Immigration and Customs & Quarantine. Data will be collected over a four to six week period covering flights scheduled throughout the day. Results will be compiled taking into account flight traffic (peak/low), number of staff available, passenger/baggage loads and number of travelers (single/couple/family).
CRITERION
Processing time during departure:
· Lining up at ticket counter
· Check-in with agent/kiosk
· Bag drop/screening through TSA
· TSA passenger screening
· Boarding of flight
· Immigration clearance (if required)
Processing time upon arrival (disembarkation):
· Disembark from aircraft and proceed to Immigration
· Lining up for Immigration clearance
· Immigration clearance
· Proceeding to baggage claim/claiming baggage
· Time for baggage to be offloaded and loaded onto baggage carousel
· Lining up for Customs & Quarantine clearance
· Customs & Quarantine clearance
FACTORS TO INCLUDE
Departure:
· Number of flights departing during time frame
· Flight capacity/passenger load
· Number of bags checked in and carry on
· Number of staff (CMI, TSA, Immigration, C&Q)
· Number of travelers (single/couple/family)
